Celebration of International Children's Literature

2004
Pyle Center, Langdon Street, Madison

Those of you who attended last year’s workshop will remember the fantastic day -- full of wonderful insights and readings by inspirational authors who were gathered with us in Madison. If you were not able to attend previous workshops, we hope that you can join us this year, to interact with the following award winning authors who have confirmed participation in the workshop:

Deborah Ellis, Francisco Jiménez, Jane Kurtz, and An Na

This celebration will be an all-day interactive workshop for K-12 educators, librarians, students and children's literature enthusiasts, with an aim to internationalize statewide reading curriculum. After opening remarks, each author will give a 45-minute presentation (followed by 15 minutes of questions) on their writings, highlighting the work they feel is most suitable for classroom discussion. Two authors will speak in the morning session and two following lunch. Our final hour will be divided into break out sessions for more intimate dialogue between the authors and participants. In conclusion, we will have a reception and book signing.

In observance of International Education Week 2004, WIOC is promoting international education by sponsoring this event.
